? Survival Equipment Technician – Maritime (Southampton)

Location: SouthamptonSalary: £30,000 to £35,000  + overtime + benefitsType: Permanent, full-time

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Survival Equipment Technician to join our client’s specialist maritime safety team in Southampton. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, testing, and certification of lifesaving appliances (LSA) including:

• Liferafts
• Lifejackets
• Immersion suits
• Breathing apparatus
• Associated survival and firefighting equipment

This position is critical to ensuring compliance with SOLAS, IMO, and UK MCA regulations, supporting commercial shipping, offshore operators, and defence clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, repair, and certify survival equipment to the highest safety standards
• Carry out inspections and pressure testing in line with regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate certification and service documentation
• Work both in the workshop and onboard vessels when required
• Support the team in maintaining operational readiness of safety equipment stock

About You

To be successful, you must have:

• Proven hands-on experience as a Survival Equipment Technician (essential)
• Strong knowledge of SOLAS, IMO, and MCA regulations for lifesaving appliances
• Precision and attention to detail in safety-critical work
• The ability to work independently and as part of a small technical team

Ideal Background

• Marine/Maritime Survival Equipment Technicians
• Ex-Royal Navy Survival Equipment Specialists (SE Techs) or Merchant Navy equivalents
• Experienced safety equipment professionals from commercial shipping, offshore, or defence sectors
