SHEQ Engineer

Location: Chorley
Reporting to: Senior Quality Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SHEQ Engineer to support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of our Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety management systems. The role ensures compliance with ISO standards, regulatory requirements and company policies, while promoting a strong safety and quality culture across projects and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and improve ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
Lead internal audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Support supplier evaluations, inspections and SHEQ reviews
Monitor and report on KPIs, incidents and ESG data
Provide SHEQ support to project teams, including CDM compliance
Conduct site visits, audits and joint inspections with clients
Maintain training matrices and compliance documentation
Support certification renewals and external auditsRequirements

3+ years' experience in a SHEQ or similar engineering role
HNC/HND in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
NEBOSH (or equivalent) certification
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001
Auditing experience and strong problem-solving skills
Ability to travel across the UK as requiredDesirable

Experience in heavy engineering / infrastructure projects
Knowledge of CDM regulations and NEC contracts
Formal ISO Internal Auditor qualification
