An exciting opportunity is available for a Lecturer in Travel and Tourism with a specialism in Aviation. The role is based in Uxbridge, within a dynamic Travel and Tourism department that offers a range of travel-related courses focused on the airline/aviation and hospitality industries. The department works closely with local employers around Heathrow Airport to prepare learners for careers in the sector and/or further study.

This role includes access to high-quality resources such as a mock aircraft cabin and simulated travel agency environment. The successful candidate will join an experienced and committed team and will be supported in developing their teaching career, including fully funded access to a teaching qualification (Diploma in Education and Training).

Main Purpose of the Role

To ensure the retention and achievement of students by delivering effective and engaging teaching and learning. The Lecturer will contribute to course development and continuously improve delivery based on subject knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Induction and Student Support

* Provide course handbooks and academic reviews

* Act as a named tutor and liaise on attendance and retention

* Ensure access to support services and refer as needed

* Oversee completion of initial assessments and ensure learning support is in place

* Maintain accessible and current subject resources

Programme Delivery

* Deliver across various programmes including:

* NCFE Levels 1-3 Travel and Tourism

* Level 1 Aviation and Level 2 Cabin Crew

* City & Guilds Level 3

* BTEC Level 3 Aviation Operations

* BTEC Levels 4-5 International Travel and Tourism Management

* Prepare lesson plans and teaching materials

* Support full study programme participation including maths/English and work experience

Quality Assurance

* Gather student feedback and contribute to course reviews

* Set and monitor performance targets

* Participate in lesson observations and appraisals

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications:

* Minimum Level 3 qualification in Travel and Tourism or related area (Degree desirable)

* GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths (or willingness to achieve)

* Level 5 teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one

* Full driving licence and willingness to undergo minibus training

Essential Experience:

* Teaching or training experience in relevant subject

* Industry experience, especially in aviation

* Current subject knowledge

* Experience delivering BTEC, City & Guilds, and NCFE qualifications

Desirable Experience:

* Experience delivering Higher Education qualifications
