Are you an experienced and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant seeking a long-term role within a nurturing and well-resourced specialist school? We are proud to be supporting a highly regarded SEN school in the Kings Heath area, who are looking for a committed TA to join their team and support pupils with a wide range of additional needs.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will play a vital role in ensuring pupils can access learning, feel safe, and develop both academically and socially. You will work under the guidance of class teachers and specialist staff, supporting children on both a 1:1 and group basis.

This position is full-time and ongoing, with the potential for long-term opportunities within the school.

Key Responsibilities

Provide focused and flexible support to pupils with a range of SEN needs.

*

Support individual pupils with communication development, emotional regulation, and social skills.

*

Assist in planning, delivering, and adapting lessons to meet pupils' individual learning plans and EHCP targets.

*

Implement behaviour support strategies in line with the school's positive behaviour policy.

*

Facilitate sensory activities and help pupils regulate through sensory breaks.

*

Use visual aids, schedules, communication systems (e.g., PECS, Makaton), or other specialist approaches where trained.

*

Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and independence.

*

Support with personal care, mobility or medical routines where required (full guidance provided).

*

Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, therapists, and parents.

*

Contribute to a calm, structured, and nurturing learning environment.

Requirements

To apply for this role, you must have:

*

A minimum of 6 months' experience working with children in UK school settings.

*

Strong previous experience supporting pupils with special educational needs.

*

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one through our agency).

*

Full-time availability Monday-Friday.

*

A positive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young people.

*

Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.

*

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

*

Willingness to assist with personal care or behaviour support if required.
