Are you an experienced HLTA with a strong background in special educational needs (SEN)? Are you confident leading lessons and supporting pupils with complex learning needs?

Uniform Education is working with a specialist SEN school in Uxbridge seeking a committed and capable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September. The school provides high-quality education for pupils with autism, speech and language needs, and complex learning difficulties across both primary and secondary phases.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to step into more responsibility while continuing to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

The Role:

Support and lead learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff

*

Deliver pre-planned lessons to small groups and occasionally cover whole classes

*

Adapt learning materials and strategies to meet the individual needs of pupils

*

Use strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or visual supports (training provided if needed)

*

Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management

*

Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals

*

Help create a calm, inclusive, and structured learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Proven experience working in an SEN setting

*

HLTA qualification or relevant experience leading learning

*

A solid understanding of autism, communication difficulties, and sensory needs

*

The ability to take initiative, think on your feet, and adapt quickly

*

Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills

*

A positive, flexible, and resilient attitude

*

A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
