We are working with forward-thinking secondary schools in Kettering that are seeking a Lead Practitioner of Geography to join their team from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role offering the opportunity to lead innovation, mentor colleagues, and raise achievement in a thriving subject area.
About the Role: -
Take a leading role in developing high-quality teaching and learning within the Geography department and across the wider school

Model outstanding classroom practice and support the professional development of teaching staff

Lead on curriculum design, assessment strategies, and enrichment activities for Geography

Use data effectively to identify gaps, raise attainment, and improve outcomes for all students

Drive forward whole-school improvement priorities through research-informed practice

Contribute to staff training, lesson observations, coaching, and mentoring programmes

Work closely with the Head of Humanities and senior leadership to raise standards and inspire a love of Geography
We're Looking For: -
A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) with strong subject knowledge in Geography

Proven track record of delivering consistently excellent teaching and student outcomes

A commitment to inclusive, student-centred education and high academic expectations

Experience of leading on departmental or whole-school initiatives (e.g. curriculum, pedagogy, CPD)

A passion for Geography and the ability to bring the subject to life for diverse learners

Excellent communication, leadership, and coaching skills

A collaborative mindset and drive to make a wider impact beyond the classroom
