*** Shift Pattern: 5 from 7 (varying between the hours of 07:00 and 20:00) OR 4 on 4 off (07:00 - 19:00).

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? As a Transport Operator, you will be responsible for the daily planning of company and/or third party resources.
You will be effectively managing vehicle utilisation and ensuring drivers are given clear and precise instructions, and that all service levels are met both within the constraints of drivers hours and H&S regulations.
Reporting to the Transport Manager, your responsibilities will include: - Ensuring that all elements of the job are effectively communicated to drivers and sub-contractors - Planning the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies ensuring that all Company sites are fully considered when doing so - Ensuring that all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations - Liaising with retail department teams to optimise fleet/driver utilisation, identifying and resolving problems affecting delivery on time and other operators and team leaders to discuss efficiencies and agreed operational practices - Effectively managing the balance between own fleet and sub-contract requirements, identifying and suggesting any areas for improvement - Assisting with investigations into accidents or issues of driver performance and raising these with Team Leaders and HR to ensure they are dealt with efficiently and consistently - Supporting the fleet to ensure the timely return of vehicles WHO WILL YOU BE WORKING FOR? WHAT DO YOU NEED? To join us as a Transport Operator, you will need: - Experience of managing your own workload within a pressurised environment - Experience of working within a FMCG environment - An understanding of vehicle planning within a transport environment - Good geographical knowledge - To be adaptable and flexible in approach to work - An ability to solve problems under pressure Individuals with previous experience in roles such as Transport Assistant, Transport Clerk, Transport Co-ordinator, Transport Planner, Retail Planner or Despatch Operator would be advantageous.
