A respected regional civil engineering contractor is seeking an Environmental Lead to take ownership of environmental performance across a range of infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

This is a senior, influential role within the business, supporting both live projects and pre-construction activity while driving best practice and compliance across multiple sites.

The Role

Lead environmental compliance across all civil engineering projects

*

Develop, implement, and monitor Environmental Management Plans (EMPs)

*

Provide practical environmental advice to project and site teams

*

Carry out site audits, inspections, and reporting

*

Support tenders and bids with environmental input

*

Manage environmental incidents, investigations, and corrective actions

*

Act as the main point of contact for environmental matters with clients, regulators, and internal stakeholders

About You

*

Proven experience in an environmental role within civil engineering or construction

*

Strong working knowledge of UK environmental legislation and standards

*

Experience across highways, infrastructure, utilities, or general civils projects

*

Hold a relevant professional membership (e.g. IEMA or equivalent)

*

Relevant environmental qualification (degree or professional certification preferred)

*

Confident communicator with the ability to influence site and senior management

*

Full UK driving licence
