A Chemical Batch Compounder / Supervisor is required as soon as possible by our South Buffalo client. CHEMICAL BATCH COMPOUNDER / SUPERVISORDAY SHIFTEssential Duties and Responsibilities
Possess some knowledge or understanding of liquid resins, catalysts and the thickening process
Works chemical compounds (resins, fillers, pigments) to make batches according to specific formulas
Completes transfer of liquid materials from vessel to vessel, chemical material handling, compounding batches, operating process equipment
(pumps, valves, mixers, etc.) loading and unloading tank trucks
Monitor and record production and machine performance
Enters batch summary information into various databases/programs
Tests and evaluates new materials and possesses basic understanding of PLC Controls
Processes batches to designed specifications temperatures, viscosity and stability
Works well and independently in an ISO 9001:29015 with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work to be performed with suggestions to improve
Trains hourly associates when necessary with hands-on assistance in shut downs, clean ups and start upsOther Qualifications
Two years or more of a technical degree with a chemical background or appropriate work experience.
Minimum 5 years work experience with resins or like productsOther Skills and Abilities:
Previous forklift experience or ability to learn
Must be a confident and innovative individual and be very much team oriented
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Good math and computer skills with the ability to interpret batching formulas, ratios, percentiles
Previous chemical handling experience an asset
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.Safety:
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Have knowledge of OSHA standards
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Gloves, safety classes, ear plugs, safety shoes, etc.
Safety equipment required on the job while in each specific work environment: ie: Safety glasses, hard sole shoes, earplugs, respirator, gloves as
Physical activities to include but not limited to the following: walking, lifting, bending, and climbing ladders indoors and outdoors in a manufacturing environment. The associate will work around hot molds and hydraulic and mechanical presses. An associate may occasionally lift and/or move equipment up to 50 pounds in weight.
