If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN/SEMH Teacher for a rewarding role in the Wakefield area. We are looking for someone to work with a dedicated team, providing vital support to children.

Key Responsibilities

As an SEN/SEMH Teacher, you will be instrumental in creating a secure and supportive learning environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Confidently adapting and delivering lessons to meet the diverse needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and SEMH challenges.

  • Using your skills to de-escalate difficult situations and help pupils regain a sense of calm and focus.

  • Planning and executing bespoke learning plans that are tailored to the unique academic and social needs of each pupil.

  • Working closely with teaching assistants and external specialists to ensure a coordinated and effective support system.

  • Encouraging pupils to develop their own learning strategies and social skills, helping them build confidence and self-reliance.

Requirements

To succeed in this position, you must possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • A proven background in teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

  • An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).

  • The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build rapport with pupils and colleagues.

  • A calm, patient, and highly resilient approach.

  • Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
