Our client, based in Reading are seeking a hands-on and experienced Production / Factory Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of its workshop.

Specialising in precision sheet metal work, they support a wide range of sectors including electronics, industrial manufacturing, and bespoke engineering projects.

Production Manager Job Overview

Manage day-to-day factory operations, team of up to 10 staff
Prepare quotations, order materials, and ensure jobs stay on budget
Schedule work, produce parts drawings and cutting lists using CAD
Maintain quality and health & safety standards across all activity
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and senior management
Drive improvements in efficiency, output, and long-term growth

Production Manager Job Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience managing a factory or workshop in a similar environment
Strong background in sheet metal fabrication
Experience in CAD - comfortable producing parts drawings and technical documentation
Demonstrated ability to work to and maintain quality standards and H&S compliance
Commercially aware, with a focus on profitability and cost control
Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
A proactive mindset, with a willingness to help grow the business

Production Manager Salary & Benefits

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Core factory hours are Monday to Friday 07:30-16:00; manager expected to work flexibly as needed, with a base of 7.5 hours/day
Holiday: 20 days annual leave
