Job Title: Technician
Responsible to: Fleet Manager

Key Skill/Qualification Level
To operate and maintain company vehicles and plant equipment, following all company procedures, including Health and Safety procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.

Job Purpose
To maintain and operate company vehicles and plant equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Operating and maintaining company vehicles/plant equipment.
• Conducting body and bin lift servicing as per manufacturers' guidelines.
• Following all their procedures, ensuring compliance.
• Adhering to their Health & Safety Policy to ensure compliance.
• Submitting job cards and completed defect sheets to the Fleet Department daily.
• Performing preventative maintenance tasks on vehicles/plant equipment.
• Completing daily worksheets/service sheets accurately.
• Prioritizing workloads.
• Reporting incidents, near misses, or damages as soon as they occur.
• Correctly interpreting instructions from job cards/repair orders and following all documented quality procedures, settings, and tolerances from manufacturer manuals, bulletins, and check sheets.
• Checking and testing vehicles and plant equipment as required by documented procedures.
• Ensuring the workshop is kept clean and tidy, with all scrap removed immediately upon completion of each repair.
• Accurately reporting and recording work done and tests carried out, immediately reporting any further work required or vehicle faults.
• Protecting and maintaining tools and equipment, using them in the prescribed manner, and returning them to storage after use.
• Reporting any loss, shortage, damage, or malfunction of tools/equipment or requesting additional tools/equipment required to complete repairs.
• Carrying out all duties accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
• Conducting pre-MOT inspections and repairs to meet required standards.
• Performing PMI and defect rectification to a high standard safely and efficiently, in compliance with regulations.

Specialist Knowledge/Skills and Abilities

Essential:
• Apprenticeship served.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
Desirable:
• HGV driving licence.

Training, Experience, and Qualifications Required

Essential:
• Sound knowledge of lifting equipment.
• Sound knowledge of recycling plant equipment.
Desirable:
• Electrical knowledge (an advantage).
• Basic welding skills.

Other Requirements
Essential:
• Flexible working.
• Positive, can-do attitude.
• Ability to work unsupervised
