Assistant Management Accountant - Lowell

Location: Leeds, Thorpe Park, Hybrid working.

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our team. If you're working towards an accounting qualification and want to develop your career in a supportive, dynamic business then this could be the role for you.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

To deliver the critical elements of quality (relevance and reliability of information) and timeliness. Including, but not limited to:

  • Preparing and uploading appropriate and accurate journals required for month end, including understanding the processes and the numbers.

  • Sourcing, analysing, and explaining trends in the financials for the area of responsibility. Recognising any potential adjustments.

  • Deliver the month-end timetable, liaising with stakeholders across finance (within BSU, FP&A, Finance BPs and External Reporting) to agree appropriate deadlines.

  • To ensure timely and accurate postings to meet the month end and year end deadlines.

  • Preparing accurate and complete balance sheet reconciliations monthly; escalating any issues and enquiring on any anomalies. Investigating the detail of balances.

  • Identification of opportunities to streamline and automate processes.

  • To build relationships with internal stakeholders and specifically to ensure clear and open communication.

  • To ensure all accounting and company policies and practices are adhered to.

  • Maintaining an appropriate control environment, understanding the responsibility for compliance and risk management.

.What we need from you:

  • You will be working towards an accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA).

  • Highly numerate and capable of digesting and interpreting financial information.

  • Proactive, analytical and with a drive to learn and to understand the business.

  • Rigorous, methodical and well organised with excellent attention to detail.

  • Comfortable user of Microsoft excels and having used a financial system.

  • Ability to manage own workload to ensure that activities are correctly prioritised and that all interested parties are aware of deadlines and progress.

  • Developing knowledge of management and financial accounting principles.

  • Capable of identifying improvements; a natural, proactive problem solver.

  • Positive and driven with a desire to develop self, ability to complete tasks with limited supervision.

Preferably:

  • Experience of working in a deadline-driven, multi-disciplined, financial reporting environment in a medium-sized or large organisation.
