An award-winning law firm with one of the largest and most respected Commercial teams in the South is seeking a talented Senior Associate (7+ PQE) to join its growing practice. This role offers exposure to a diverse and high-quality caseload of Commercial and Intellectual Property matters, with the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the firm's IP offering.
The Opportunity
You'll be involved in a wide range of commercial and IP work, including:
- Trade mark prosecution - from applications through to registration, including oppositions and appeals
- Supervising and developing junior team members, including a CITMA-qualified paralegal
- Drafting and negotiating IP agreements (licensing, assignments, ownership, start-up support)
- Advising on IT & commercial contracts (software licensing, IT services, distribution, franchising, agency & supply agreements)
- Supporting on IP disputes, including strategy, pleadings, and settlement agreements
- Engaging in business development, seminars, and thought leadership to grow the team's profile
What We're Looking For
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 7+ PQE
- Strong background in IP and commercial law with expertise in trademarks, designs, and copyright (patent knowledge desirable)
- Proven experience handling both transactional and contentious IP matters
- Excellent commercial awareness with strong drafting and negotiation skills
- A collaborative, proactive approach with enthusiasm for BD and mentoring junior colleagues
