Vehicle Package Engineer

Role Overview
Vehicle Package Engineering sits within the Advanced Engineering department and is responsible for the vehicle package from concept through to end of life, across the client's full product portfolio.
The team plays a critical role in balancing engineering requirements with customer needs, ensuring that all vehicle systems integrate effectively within the defined vehicle layout while protecting occupant and customer-use space.
Due to continued project demand, the department is seeking talented and motivated Vehicle Package Engineers to support the delivery of challenging targets across a range of vehicle programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Creation of vehicle concept proposals through vehicle architecture and package layouts
- Development of outline component and system proposals to support package evolution
- Definition and development of detailed vehicle packages at whole‑vehicle or package‑zone level
- Tracking, managing, and driving resolution of geometric and packaging issues within assigned zones
- Acting as a technical mediator between Centres of Competence (CoCs) to resolve spatial and geometric conflicts
- Leading the package process to deliver high‑quality, clash‑free virtual vehicle definitions
- Coordinating cross‑functional activities via ad‑hoc and formal package zone meetings
- Supporting the integration of multiple vehicle systems while maintaining customer and usage space targets
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Minimum 2 years' experience in product development within a vehicle integration or packaging role
- Strong experience using CATIA V5 and V6 for detail and packaging design and geometric integration
(Other 3D CAD experience considered) - Well‑rounded knowledge of chassis, propulsion systems, and associated sub‑systems
- Proven experience negotiating technical solutions in areas of conflict
- Experience using benchmarking tools to support idea generation
- Strong communication skills (written, graphical, and verbal)
- Ability to deliver high‑quality results in a fast‑paced, flexible team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under strict timing constraints
Desirable
- Knowledge of structural integration first principles
- System‑level knowledge of EV architectures, EDUs, and HV Battery Packs
- Experience working within Agile environments, using tools such as Jira and Confluence
- Understanding of project planning and delivery to plan
- Knowledge of electronic parts listing systems and family trees
- Working knowledge of Vehicle Packaging, Vehicle Engineering, and CoC structures
- Experience presenting to peers and senior management
- Experience using ENOVIA 3DEXPERIENCE PLM
- Exposure to CATIA V5 Vismockup / Digibuck (FORD C3PNG)
- Degree‑level education in a relevant engineering discipline
