ALink Recruitment are working with a consultancy that are looking for 15 Project Engineers for Maintenance Optimisation on rail infrastructure projects. Both contract and permanent.

Role Purpose:

We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to drive maintenance optimisation initiatives within the railway infrastructure environment. This role will focus on assessing, developing, and implementing strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of existing maintenance regimes. The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of railway infrastructure, including both TfL and Network Rail systems, and be adept at navigating the challenges of transitioning from legacy to modernised processes.

Key Responsibilities:

* Evaluate and analyse existing maintenance regimes and processes across TfL and, where applicable, Network Rail interfaces.

* Identify optimisation opportunities to improve reliability, reduce cost, and extend asset life without compromising safety or performance.

* Lead or support the development of business cases for maintenance strategy changes.

* Engage stakeholders across engineering, operations, and asset management teams to gain buy-in for proposed changes.

* Ensure risk identification and mitigation measures are in place during all phases of project development and implementation.

* Support the design and implementation of transition plans from existing to optimised maintenance processes, ensuring minimal disruption.

* Monitor and report on project performance, delivering against key performance indicators (KPIs).

* Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards at all times.

Skills & Experience Required:

Essential:

* Proven experience in railway infrastructure maintenance or engineering, ideally in both TfL and Network Rail environments.

* Strong understanding of rail asset management, including maintenance planning, regimes, and optimisation principles.

* Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements in maintenance practices.

* Experience in project engineering or project delivery, particularly involving business process change or transformation.

* Understanding of the technical and operational risks associated with changes to railway maintenance regimes.

* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across organisational boundaries.

* Proficient in risk management, including hazard identification and control in operational railway environments.

Desirable:

* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) with a recognised engineering body.

* Experience working with asset information systems (e.g. Ellipse, Maximo, or similar).

* Familiarity with Whole Life Cost principles and performance-based maintenance contracts.

* Knowledge of relevant standards TfL Engineering Standards

Qualifications:

* Degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.

Additional Information:

* This role may require occasional site visits to operational railway locations, including during engineering hours.

* Flexibility and adaptability will be key, particularly when dealing with complex stakeholder environments and evolving project scopes
