Contract Director - FM & Technical Services (6-Month FTC)

Location: Homebased (UK-wide coverage across 23 sites / 8 hubs: Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow x2, and Belfast)
Salary: £85,000 + Travel

Are you a proven Contract Director experienced in leading large-scale FM and Technical Services transformations across complex estates? This is an exciting opportunity to join a major facilities management organisation on a 6-month fixed-term contract, driving operational excellence and transformation across a key UK Government estate.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will take full accountability for the delivery, transformation, and performance management of FM services across 23 sites nationwide. You'll lead a team of 7 direct reports and oversee a wider team of around 250, ensuring consistent service delivery, stakeholder engagement, and contract compliance.

This role will focus heavily on transformation, mobilisation, and operational improvement — ensuring technical and soft FM services are aligned with the client's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and oversee FM operations and transformation across a UK-wide government estate.

* Drive the successful delivery of both hard (technical) and soft FM services.

* Manage, coach, and develop a leadership team of 7 direct reports (total team c.250).

* Ensure full contractual compliance, budget control, and KPI performance.

* Oversee mobilisation and transformation initiatives to enhance service delivery.

* Act as the key client liaison, building strong, trusted relationships at senior levels.

* Implement best practice in operational performance, governance, and safety.

Skills & Experience

* Proven experience as a Contract Director / Operations Director within the FM or Building Services sector.

* Strong track record in managing large-scale FM transformations, ideally within government or public sector environments.

* Excellent leadership skills with experience managing large, dispersed teams.

* Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.

* Sound understanding of both hard (M&E) and soft FM services.

* Flexibility to travel to sites across the UK as required.
