Are you an experienced Software Developer who takes pride in quality, values teamwork and is looking for a new challenge? At MASS, a defence technology company, we are currently looking for a self-motivated and proactive Software Developer to join our expanding software team for a role based on one of our customer sites in Lincoln.
The successful Software Developer candidate will support an Oracle database and capture requirements for new features and user stories. They will work as part of a team with users and other customer stakeholders. Skills wise, Technical Analysis, Oracle Relational Database, SQL, and PL/SQL are essential for this role which is more about using developer skills to support the database than actually develop it. The successful candidate will be required to design and develop PL/SQL and SQL support scripts.
Duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:
* Install software - new, upgrades, and patches.
* Support the customer with user acceptance testing activities.
* Monitor the system to assure normal operation and identify problems.
* Perform authorised system configuration changes, e.g. THURBON metadata and role-based access control changes (NOTE: THURBON training will be provided where required).
* Analysis, design, code and unit testing of support scripts, e.g. using SQL and Powershell.
* Observation investigation analysis with users and other support team members.
* Produces detailed fault reports and change request specifications.
* Analyses data problems and performs authorised data updates using SQL.
* Provide advice to users about how to best use THURBON, and helps the users to identify workarounds to problems.
* Ensures new observations are logged in JIRA (or authorised alternative) for assessment.
* Provides reports on progress, risks, issues and anomalies found during system operation.
* Work with stakeholders outside of MASS to achieve the best outcome for MASS and our customers.
Ideally the successful candidate with have minimum 5 years of industry experience working as a software developer working with Oracle, PL/SQL, and SQL.
Other essentials include:
* Using a source control system such as Git, Subversion or similar
* Using a bug/workload tracking system such as JIRA or similar
* Working with agile and/or waterfall approaches. Working with the MS Windows OS
* Some experience of software design and analysis
In addition, it would be advantageous but not essential to be knowledgeable and have experience in some of the following languages including: C, C#, C++, CSS, Delphi, Fortran, HTML, Java, Javascript, LabView, MatLab, MySQL, , Python, Typescript, VB. Linux/Unix operating systems.
The successful candidate will be required to hold an existing or be in a position to qualify for DV Security Clearance.
