We are looking for a Senior Waste Enforcement Officer - Facilities & Environment to join our team and play a vital role in tackling environmental offences, ensuring compliance with waste regulations, and supporting the community to keep our streets and open spaces clean, safe, and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead investigations into illegal waste disposal, fly-tipping, littering, and commercial waste offences

* Issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) and prepare evidence packs for prosecution cases

* Conduct patrols across the borough to identify and address waste-related offences

* Provide guidance, training, and support to Waste Enforcement Officers and junior colleagues

* Liaise with businesses, residents, and contractors to ensure compliance with waste management regulations

* Collect witness statements and maintain accurate enforcement records

* Work with CCTV and intelligence teams to monitor and gather evidence on offenders

* Deliver community engagement sessions and promote responsible waste disposal practices

* Represent the service at court hearings, council meetings, and public forums

* Ensure enforcement actions are carried out in line with legislation and council policy

* Support wider Facilities & Environment services when required

What We're Looking For:

* Proven experience in waste enforcement, environmental enforcement, or a similar regulatory role

* Strong knowledge of environmental protection laws and local authority enforcement powers

* Excellent investigation and evidence-gathering skills

* Ability to lead and mentor a small team effectively

* Confident in handling conflict and dealing with the public in a professional manner

* Strong organisational and record-keeping skills

* Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, when required

* Good IT skills, including use of enforcement software and Microsoft Office

Pre-Employment Requirements:

* Valid Driving Licence (essential for site visits)

* Proof of Right to Work in the UK (Passport or valid photo ID)

* National Insurance Number

* Enhanced DBS check may be required
