Mechanical Project Engineer
Location: Somerset, South West UK

Our client, a leading Tier One MEP contractor committed to building a better and more inclusive society, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join their delivery team on a major £1bn+ project in Somerset.

The Role

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will play a central role in the site delivery team, supporting the management of MEPH works from installation through to commissioning and handover. You will work closely with subcontractors, project supervisors, and client stakeholders to ensure safe, high-quality, and timely project execution.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise sections of the project team and supply chain partners

*

Coordinate and oversee the installation and commissioning of MEPH systems, including cold and dry rooms

*

Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards alongside internal and external teams

*

Support the Commissioning Manager in the final stages and handover of the project

*

Provide leadership to supervisors and allocate responsibilities effectively

*

Manage all phases of the MEP works, including procurement, installation, and commissioning

*

Support commercial functions, including contract management and variations

*

Conduct monthly project audits and subcontractor progress reviews

*

Uphold company procedures and ensure works are delivered safely and in line with best practices

What You'll Bring

*

Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, BMS, and public health systems

*

ONC/HNC or NVQ Level 3/4 in Building Services Engineering

*

SMSTS (5-day) and appropriate CSCS skill card

*

Experience delivering MEP works within contractor environments

*

Familiarity with DfMA and its application on major projects

*

Solid understanding of commissioning processes and engineering of plant/equipment

*

Planning capability with a strong focus on quality assurance

*

Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours site work
