The Role

An established engineering business operating within industrial automation and bespoke machinery is seeking a Senior Controls Software Engineer to join its growing team. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys seeing projects through from concept to commissioning and mentoring junior colleagues along the way.

The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and commissioning control systems for a variety of automated machinery and industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret and work from electrical schematics

Design and write PLC, HMI, and SCADA software from scratch

Lead commissioning activities on machinery and automated systems

Travel to customer sites across the UK, with potential for international travel

Provide technical leadership and support to junior engineers

Ensure projects are delivered to specification, on time, and to a high standard

Key Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience in a controls or automation engineering role

Strong PLC programming experience with one or more of the following:

Siemens

Allen Bradley

Omron

Mitsubishi

Exposure to HMI and SCADA system design

Experience across a range of industrial sectors (flexible background considered)

Willingness to travel for commissioning activities

Clean UK driving licence
