I am working with a leading technology company who are currently seeking a proactive and talented Transaction Manager to play a key role within their Finance department.
About the Role
As Transaction Manager, you will lead the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, managing three direct reports and overseeing all supplier payment and cash collection activity. You will play a key part in cashflow forecasting, banking administration, credit management and working capital metrics.
This role would suit someone who enjoys problem-solving, is confident managing people, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Routine Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor three direct reports across AP and AR.
- Oversee credit management and cash collection, escalating risks when needed.
- Ensure customer credit limits and terms remain appropriate.
- Drive AP/AR performance and monitor team KPIs.
- Support the career development of your team.
- Collaborate with Sales, Order Desk, Procurement and Finance to forecast cashflow.
- Provide commentary on cashflow movements including order timing, customer terms and purchase commitments.
- Work closely with the Financial Controller and external providers on FX hedging and facility agreements.
- Manage all banking administration, including non-UK accounts.
Month-End Responsibilities
- Oversee timely month-end close for AP and AR.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for own areas.
- Review and approve reconciliations completed by your team.
- Prepare monthly VAT returns for the trading company and group entities.
- Report key working capital metrics including DSO and DPO.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve policies and processes within transactional finance.
- Identify and implement process efficiency improvements.
- Prepare audit deliverables for AP/AR and related areas.
- Ensure compliance with Export VAT rules in collaboration with the Order Desk.
- Produce bi-annual HMRC payment practice reports.
- Support the development of trade finance solutions (bills of exchange, letters of credit, guarantees).
- Carry out ad-hoc duties as required.
What You Need to Succeed
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- Experience in a similar AP/AR or Finance leadership role.
- Proven people management experience.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive ‘can-do’ approach.
- High attention to discretion and integrity.
- Team-oriented mindset and excellent communication skills.
- Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIF).
Nice to Have
- Treasury or accountancy qualification.
- Experience with trade finance instruments (bills of exchange, letters of credit, bank guarantees).
- Understanding of VAT rules.
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365.
