Job Purpose

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching

  • Plan and deliver well-structured music lessons aligned with the institution's curriculum and standards.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on students' progress, adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Set challenging expectations to motivate and inspire students, promoting excellent progress and outcomes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the music curriculum and demonstrate high-quality teaching.

Organisation, Strategy, and Development

  • Contribute positively to the school's ethos and wider community activities.
  • Collaborate on curriculum and student development projects to achieve cohesive educational outcomes.
  • Provide cover for colleagues as needed under unforeseen circumstances.

Health, Safety, and Discipline

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students.
  • Uphold discipline, managing behaviour effectively to maintain a conducive learning environment.

Professional Development

  • Engage in personal and professional development to enhance teaching skills.
  • Participate in the appraisal and development of colleagues when appropriate.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and carers.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to enhance educational outcomes.

Personal and Professional Conduct

  • Uphold the profession's ethical standards, both within and outside the institution.
  • Adhere to the institution's policies, maintaining high standards of attendance and punctuality.

  • Lead in developing and evaluating school policies and practices.
