Materials Procurement & Inventory Coordinator
Overview of the Role
We’re looking for someone to support the smooth flow of materials into the business by managing purchasing activity, monitoring stock levels and working closely with internal teams to keep production running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify suitable suppliers for materials and components, gathering quotes, reviewing value for money and assessing overall supplier reliability.
- Create and manage purchase requests, ensuring they meet operational requirements and are processed in a timely manner.
- Keep digital records up to date, including supplier contacts, order histories and inventory data within internal systems.
- Oversee day-to-day stock control, particularly steel and other key materials. This includes tracking orders in transit, coordinating arrival schedules and confirming deliveries.
- Maintain positive supplier relationships and communicate any changes, delays or stock concerns to relevant departments.
- Produce cost reviews, analyse purchasing trends and support the team with data for internal reporting.
- Liaise closely with production, planning and engineering colleagues so that materials arrive in line with build schedules and workflow demands.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong organisational abilities with clear, confident communication skills.
- Good negotiation instincts and the ability to assess options logically.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail, particularly when working with data, documentation or system entries.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and comfortable using digital procurement or stock systems.
- Prior experience in purchasing or materials coordination is helpful, though not essential—full training is available.
- Collaborative attitude and the ability to work well across different departments.
