We are currently seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the delivery of a major water treatment project in Birmingham. Working on a freelance basis, you will be responsible for setting out, quality assurance, and day-to-day site engineering on a large-scale upgrade of an existing treatment facility.

This is a long-term freelance opportunity (14 months), ideal for engineers with a strong background in utilities or clean water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Site engineering and setting out for civil elements (concrete structures, pipework, tanks, ducting)

Managing quality control, ITPs, and compiling as-built records

Coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers

Assisting with permit-to-work processes and site inductions

Ensuring compliance with design specifications and health & safety standards

Liaising with project managers and consultants for technical input

Requirements:
HND / Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

Proven experience on water or wastewater treatment sites (clean or dirty water)

Competent in use of setting out instruments (Total Station, GPS, AutoCAD)

CSCS card (SSSTS or SMSTS preferred)

Ability to interpret drawings and technical specs

Strong knowledge of health & safety protocols on utility sites
