Leader Group is delighted to be working in partnership with a respected Therapeutic Education Service provider to recruit an Experienced  SEND Science Teacher  for an exciting specialist SEND school in Colchester

SEND Science Teacher

Location - Colchester
£27,456 - £43,014 per annum
Full Time - 40 hours per week

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a passionate and resilient Science Teacher to join a brand-new specialist SEN school opening in September 2026.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that meets the diverse needs of pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours, helping them to achieve both academically and personally.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new provision from its foundation and play a key role in shaping its culture and success.

About the Provision

We provide specialist therapeutic education and targeted support for young people with complex needs, including social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

Our approach supports pupils who may have struggled in mainstream settings or are at risk of exclusion, disrupted education, or vulnerability.

We are committed to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment where every pupil is supported to thrive and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed Science lessons tailored to individual pupil needs, including those with SEND and trauma histories

Use assessment data effectively to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies

Promote pupils' social, emotional, and academic development through therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches

Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning in line with school policies

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and specialist staff to provide effective, targeted support

Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school improvement

Requirements

QTS or QTLS

Proven experience teaching pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour

Strong understanding of curriculum delivery, assessment, and behaviour management in specialist settings

Ability to plan, deliver, and assess high-quality teaching and learning

Resilience, empathy, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils
