Reed Finance Cumbria are exclusively retained to appoint the Finance Director for a highly profitable business with a history of consistent and impressive achievement spanning over 30 years!

As a second-generation, family-owned business, family ethos and culture are a vital component to the organisations DNA.

The group has made several key strategic acquisitions and has expanded and diversified its offerings. This has resulted in an impressive track record of growth and a robust balance sheet.

The next phase of growth requires the correct management structure in place and is therefore a great time to appoint a Finance Director, who can become a trusted partner to the MD, contributing fresh ideas in terms of profitability, future acquisitions and maximising sales. The role will be based in Kendal, Cumbria however hybrid is available.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Act as the 'right-hand person' to the Managing Director, supporting the development and execution of strategic growth objectives.
  • Manage and oversee the company's financial systems, processes, and controls, ensuring they are efficient and effective.
  • Lead the digital and technological strategy, ensuring the IT infrastructure meets current and future demands.
  • Mentor and develop the finance team, ensuring it adds value and supports the company's ambitious goals.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Enhance management information systems to support decision-making and drive business results.
  • Conduct monthly Board meetings, setting agendas that focus on strategic goals.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and legal advisors.
  • Explore opportunities for growth and diversification, conducting detailed financial analysis on potential projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • ACA, CIMA, or ACCA qualification, or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in a leadership role within a privately-owned SME, preferably in a related sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and performance maximization in a multi-site operation.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with experience mentoring and developing finance teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in financial modelling and decision support.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to business management.
