We're seeking a dedicated Pastoral Worker to join a Secondary PRU setting in Oldham on a full-time, term-time basis. This is a long term cover role starting 13th April 2026, initially for 3 months, with the view to be extending.

This rewarding position focuses on supporting students who face barriers to education, such as attendance, behaviour, or social and emotional challenges. You'll play a key part in improving outcomes for young people and helping them get back on track.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use SIMS to record and monitor attendance data accurately

  • Support and track students with poor attendance or engagement patterns

  • Build positive relationships with students and families through home visits and regular contact

  • Work alongside the Senior Leadership Team and Pastoral Coordinator to implement effective interventions

  • Liaise with external agencies to provide holistic support

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress and reintegration plans

  • Promote inclusion, attendance, and wellbeing across the school

What We're Looking For:

Experience as an Attendance Officer or in a pastoral or behaviour support role Strong understanding of attendance legislation and statutory requirements Proficiency in SIMS (or similar school management systems)

Proficiency in SEMH/PRU school settings. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Confidence conducting home visits and working with families Compassion, professionalism, and commitment to safeguarding

(Full training will be provided, and informal interviews will take place ahead of the start date.)
