We have an exciting new opportunity for a Business Development Consultant to join our team in Leeds.

As a Business Development Consultant, you will be tasked to increase the placement of candidates within apprenticeship opportunities and build relationships with employers, promoting Babington services through effective sales techniques. The role will be based from an office; however, employer sales visits/ H&S will be required. Cold calls and outbound calls are a requirement within the role.

This is a proactive role where your focus will be on identifying apprenticeship vacancies with new and existing customers and providing them with suitable apprentices around the UK. Reporting to the Head of Client Engagement, you will be responsible for identifying and gaining new clients /accounts across multiple sectors. You will develop relationships with employers and learners to achieve your monthly targets and key performance indicators. You will play a key role in meeting our growth plans.

Key Responsibilities

- To achieve, as a minimum, the monthly targets for apprenticeship placements as set by the business
- Generate new business through effective telephone, marketing and customer engagement activities by ensuring that the company's minimum standards are matched and exceeded
- Arrange apprenticeship interviews with both the employer and learner, working closely with Candidate Engagement Resourcers
- Ensure you obtain both learner and employer feedback post interview for each candidate to discuss with them
- Maintain existing business and maximise potential by carrying out regular client service calls and investigating opportunities during all contact which can include reverse marketing calls
- Ensure all leads and referrals occurring from internal or external parties are followed up within 1 working day promptly to maximise opportunities and effectively reported on
- To work closely with the Candidate Engagement Resourcers to maximise as many apprenticeship opportunities as possible
- Ensure that all relevant administration relating to clients and learners in completed promptly and accurately
- To build and maintain relationships with all relevant stakeholders such as the National Apprenticeship Service, jobcentre plus and schools within your allocated region
- Undertake regular research to ensure that you remain up to date with changes and developments within the sector, subscribing to relevant e-newsletters from ESFA, RAA, OFSTED etc

Role Requirements


- Extensive Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Customer (B2C) experience
- Working experience in recruitment, marketing, resourcing, or sales.
- Experience of delivering high level of service and satisfaction.
- Proven experience of successfully achieving deadlines and working without close supervision.
- Working experience of liaising with employers and external agencies.
- Involvement of managing databases / CRM systems for lead generation.
- Experience self-motivating to achieve KPIs and targets
- Hold a clean driving license with access to a vehicle


- Commercial Sales Qualification (e.g. C&G Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Sales, C&G Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Sales, Institute of Sales & Management (ISM) Level 2 or 3)
- Experience of selling Government funded training
- Working knowledge of labour market information
- Knowledge of the Awarding Organisations, Funding Bodies and Ofsted regulatory arrangements
