AI Platform Engineer

London or Sheffield. Up to 90000 base plus benefits.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Data and AI function at a pivotal moment. You will play a key role in building production-ready AI systems, shaping engineering standards, and driving high-impact automation projects with direct influence on business performance.

They are a tech-led insurance provider with a strong focus on complex and specialist risk. Their products combine modern cloud engineering, data platforms, and AI innovation to deliver fast, tailored solutions. With significant investment and a new AI roadmap in place, they are building an AI capability from the ground up. You will be joining at a formative stage with the chance to influence both strategy and delivery.

The Role

* Build and operate production-grade AI agents on GCP using Google ADK. * Develop scalable RAG pipelines including ingestion, text processing, and vector search. * Integrate AI systems with internal platforms through REST and JSON APIs. * Implement evaluation frameworks, monitoring, and A/B testing across AI services. * Contribute to engineering design patterns, security practices, and technical documentation.

Your Skills and Experience

* Strong commercial experience in Data Engineering, ML Engineering, or Software Engineering with a focus on AI systems. * Deep hands-on expertise with GCP services, including Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Run or Cloud Functions, Model Garden, and ADK. * Strong Python skills for backend development and API engineering. * Practical experience with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, and RAG design. * Proven ability to build stable, observable, and testable production AI systems. * Good understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containers, and Kubernetes.
