Grgich Hills Estate was founded in 1977 by Miljenko “Mike” Grgich and Austin Hills, of the Hills Bros. coffee company, after the Chateau Montelena Chardonnay Mike crafted won the now-famous 1976 Paris Tasting, beating the best wines of France. Grgich Hills Estate remains family-owned and operated, practicing the art of winemaking by crafting food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines. We farm our five certified organic estate vineyards without artificial pesticides or herbicides, rely on wild yeast fermentation and use our passion and art to handcraft our award-winning wines.

Summary:

Responsible for creating and fostering a positive relationship/experience to both public and trade visitors. Responsible for selling wine and promoting wine clubs. Must work individually and as a team member to increase direct sales in the tasting room. Tasting room employees are ambassadors of the winery and are individually responsible for visitors' impressions of Grgich Hills Estate. This role is full time seasonal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Provide guests with a memorable and unique experience through:
• Personal greetings and farewells, using guest’s names whenever possible
• Enhanced education about Grgich Hills Estate history and wines
• Anticipation of guests needs in the areas of sales, service and concierge services
• Developing relationships with guests to stimulate repeat visits and future sales
• Assist guests with wine tasting, education and purchases.
• Sell wine and accessories to guests/customers.
• Provide excellent customer service, in person or over the telephone.
• Conduct tours for both public and trade groups
• Prepare the tasting room for each day’s activities and clean up at day’s end (following the opening and closing procedures).
• Stock both Tasting Rooms with wine, supplies, glasses, bags etc. Prepare gift boxes and merchandise daily.
• Assist as needed with pulling, packaging and shipping retail and wholesale orders.
• Assist Hospitality Manager on an as needed basis.
• Assist in events that are held off and on premise as requested.
• Responsible at all times for representing the company in a positive manner and protecting Grgich Hills Estate property.
• Perform other projects/duties/assignments as needed or as directed by management.

Requirements
• Must be 21 years of age
• Must be able to lift 45 lbs frequently
• Knowledge of wine and wine tasting practices
• Ability to generate sales
