P+S Personnel are pleased to be working on behalf of our clients, who are currently seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join their team based in Norwich on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Mechanical Fitter / Technician will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of a range of products, excellent fitting / bench fitting skills are required to ensure the equipment is manufactured to the highest industry standards.

Main Responsibilities:

* Working as part of the Fitting team but also required to work and communicate with other departments during production such as Mechanical Fitters, Test Engineers and Engineering.

* Opportunity to travel overseas (on occasions) to support FSE department, which is optional.

* Working in a modern manufacturing facility.

* Able to work to tight time schedules.

* Required to build / manufacture items from component level to sub-assembly level through to assembly of complete systems.

* Receive work instructions from your Team Leader and ensure your time is booked to the correct cost code using the company's ERP system.

Qualifications:

* Completed a recognised apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Builder, Assembly Technician or similar.

* Must be educated to a minimum of NVQ / City & Guilds level 3 in a relevant discipline.

* Must have had experience in a similar role.

Person Specification:

* Able to read and fully understand technical engineering drawings for assembly and component parts.

* Must have excellent bench fitting skills using a variety of hand and electric tools.

* Be able to use a selection of manual machine tools such as Lathes, Milling Machines, Surface Grinders and Pedestal Drills, working to tight tolerances.

* Previous experience is a similar role.

* Have the ability to use precision measurement equipment such as Micrometers, Verniers and Slip Gauges.

* Must be a good team player with the ability to work using own initiative when required.

* Must have the aptitude to produce workmanship to the highest industry standards.

* Must work in a safe and orderly manner to ensure all company H&S standards are adhered to.

* Must work at an acceptable pace to meet deadlines, without sacrificing H&S & Quality standards.

* Must be willing to train or be trained by others when required.

* Must be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised when required.
