Outreach Tutor (GCSE English & Maths)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Prospero Teaching is seeking passionate and qualified GCSE English and GCSE Maths Tutors to deliver bespoke, 1:1 educational sessions to young people who are not currently attending school.

As an Outreach Tutor, you will be responsible for designing and delivering personalised lessons in either GCSE English or GCSE Maths that help bridge learning gaps, improve academic performance, and rebuild pupil confidence. These sessions are particularly suitable for experienced teachers or tutors who want to make a real impact through focused, engaging, and supportive teaching outside the traditional classroom environment.

Many of the young people you will work with have been out of education for some time and may have low confidence or additional barriers to learning. Your role is to re-engage them in their education and bring structure and motivation back into their daily routine.

Prospero Teaching provides ongoing support and works closely with tutors to track and celebrate student progress.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS

Location - Bromley
Position - Outreach GCSE English and/or GCSE Maths tutor
Type of work - 1:1 Tuition (Outreach)
Start date - ASAP
Duration / Likely Duration - Dependent on individual student needs
Contract type - Temporary
Full time/part time - Both available (flexible to suit your availability)
Minimum rate of pay - £25 per hour
Hours - Minimum 1 hour per session, up to 3 hours per session

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS, QTLS, PGCE) or equivalent
6 months+ experience teaching or tutoring in a UK school
Recent Safeguarding training (desirable - training can be provided)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold the Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to apply for a new one
Provide two professional references covering the last two years
