Health And Safety Manager

SALARY: £53000 - £55000 per annum + Benefits

Conrad Consulting are pleased to be supporting an award-winning Main Contractor who are looking to recruit an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their successful construction team on a permanent basis based on the outskirts of Redhill, Surrey.

In this role you will be working alongside their already established building team and other members of the Construction division on a day to day basis and play a key role in the continued achievement in meeting customer expectations

The successful candidate will have previous Health and Safety experience gained from working with a main contractor or developer. The main task for this position will be to formulate, develop and implement Health and Safety policies and strategies, to have an effective influence in developing and promoting a positive safety culture across the Company. Work to minimise occupational health problems and operational losses.

·Maintain and develop a good understanding of the management of all current and forthcoming Health and Safety Legislation together with Codes of Practice relevant to company business. Make recommendations for management action to ensure continued compliance with health and safety at work, all statutory regulations and associated Codes of Practice. Prepare health and safety strategy and policy working within the framework of statutory requirements and internal company processes.

·Liaise with the Company's external safety consultants to promote continuing improvements. Liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure the organisation is compliant with mandatory regulations. Undertake site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented and provide advice where necessary.

·Assist Construction Managers and site teams to monitor the compliance of sub-contractors with recommended action on risk assessments and method statements and other safety documents. Advise on breaches with the requirements or perceived lack of competence, and assist in the taking of appropriate action on behalf of the Company.

·Assist in the planning of practical and effective methods of working and recommend changes, promote health and safety and safe working practices. Undertakes risk assessments and recommend ways to reduce risks. Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards.

·Assist Site Managers in preparing the Principal Contractors Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan ensuring that all the safety issues have been properly addressed. Liaise with relevant managers regarding the preparation of the site traffic plans, site specific method statements and risk assessments.

·Develop and deliver in-house training with Managers and employees regarding relevant health and safety issues and risks. Ensure all members of staff are up to date with training requirements, advise and recommend as appropriate.

·Keep records of incidents and accidents, ensure the Company complies with the statutory obligations on reportable accidents, produce statistics for the Board and publish on the Intranet. Undertake accident investigations on site and produce subsequent reports and recommendations, keeping appropriate records.
