We are committed to supporting the energy transition by funding, developing, and delivering flexible energy solutions and helping businesses decarbonise.

Our mission is to create a smarter energy future. We are relentless in our focus on tackling the central challenge of our age - the energy transition.

The size and scale of the challenge means we must continually grow our team, bring in new ideas and new approaches, and be ready to push boundaries. We have a new opportunity for a Connections Development Manager to join our Battery Box Development Team. You will lead and manage all aspects of grid connection activities for projects connecting to the GB distribution and transmission networks, working closely with the Connections Manager to support a diverse and growing portfolio of energy projects across the UK.

In addition to grid connections, the role also offers opportunities to be involved in other key areas of development within the Battery Team, such as site identification, supporting planning applications, and working on legal agreements with landowners.

If you're driven, collaborative, and ready to make a real impact in a growing business committed to decarbonisation - we want to hear from you.

The role will involve:

Grid Application Management:

Prepare and submit grid connection applications to DNOs, IDNOs, and National Grid ESO

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of application requirements, connection codes, and relevant regulations

Offer Review and Cost Engineering:

Review and interpret connection offers, identifying errors, risks, and opportunities for cost savings

Liaise with technical experts to evaluate technical and commercial terms of offers

Project Tracking and Delivery:

Monitor and report progress from application through to energisation

Coordinate with network operators, contractors, and internal teams for timely delivery

Data Management and Reporting:

Maintain accurate project information in internal systems

Provide regular updates to the Development team and senior management

Stakeholder Engagement:

Act as the main contact for all grid connection matters with external stakeholders

Represent company interests in industry workshops, meetings, and consultations

Support Development Team:

Assess site suitability through mapping tools and feasibility studies

Assist in identifying new opportunities and assessing project potential

Engage with landowners and agents to secure land for projects

Negotiate landowner agreements

Perform additional duties relevant to the level of the role

What we are looking for:

A passionate and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, bringing the following experience and skills:

Deep understanding of GB distribution and transmission networks and connection processes

Familiarity with the Distribution Code and key Engineering Recommendations (G99, G100, P28, G5)

Knowledge of the Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC)

Strong IT skills with ability to learn industry-specific software quickly

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

Enthusiasm for renewable energy and low-carbon technologies

Self-motivated, adaptable, and resilient under pressure

Strong interpersonal skills for working with colleagues and stakeholders

What we offer:

We foster a culture based on honesty, collaboration, and enjoyment, with a workplace where everyone feels heard and valued.

The innovative spirit of the Battery Box team encourages personal growth, accountability, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. This dedication to excellence earned the Battery Box Team the 'Team of the Year' award by the Young Energy Professionals (YEP) in 2024.
