Principal Product Safety Engineer - Defence

Location: Bristol, Surrey or Portsmouth.
Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 plus bonus.
Security - Please note that this role requires eligibility for SC clearance.

An experienced Product Safety Engineer is required to support the safe delivery of complex engineering systems within a highly regulated environment. This role will focus on identifying and managing hazards, developing safety cases, and ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards across the engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

* Managing hazards, risks and associated mitigations

* Maintaining hazard logs and safety documentation

* Producing safety cases and safety management plans

* Facilitating hazard identification workshops and safety reviews

* Supporting assurance and acceptance activities

* Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams

Skills & Experience

* Strong knowledge of safety management and risk assessment processes

* Experience across multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle

* Familiarity with defence or functional safety standards

* Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation

* Degree-qualified in Engineering or a related STEM subject

* Professional registration (or working towards) desirable
