JOB PURPOSE:

To join an extending Liaison Psychiatry Service provided by Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust, for all-age mental health presentations within the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust (UHDB) hospital sites - Queen's Hospital, Burton and the two community hospitals in Tamworth and Lichfield.

The main purpose of the role is to provide mental health assessment, risk assessment and treatment, with the primary focus of the work being the high quality assessment and treatment of patients presenting with a mental health issue within a physical healthcare setting, many of whom will have physical health conditions impacting upon their mental health.

Important aspects of the role also include (but not limited to) providing indirect patient care via formal and informal consultancy e.g. attending MDT meetings, offering opinions/advice, supporting informal and formal training for the acute Trust staff in relation to mental health and wellbeing, facilitating the timely and safe discharge of patients from the hospital, and enabling hospital staff to manage risks related to mental health in the acute environment.
