We are seeking a dedicated ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) to join one of our client schools and provide vital emotional and pastoral support to students. As an ELSA Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children's emotional wellbeing, helping them build resilience, improve their social skills, and thrive in a school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and small group sessions to support students in developing emotional literacy, self-regulation, and social skills.
- Provide a safe, nurturing space for students to talk about their feelings and work through any emotional difficulties they may be facing.
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop tailored support plans for students in need of emotional or behavioural support.
- Monitor and track student's progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Implement specific ELSA strategies and interventions to promote mental health and well-being.
- Support the wider school community in fostering an emotionally supportive and inclusive environment.
- Assist in the development and delivery of emotional wellbeing workshops and resources.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience working with children, particularly those who need additional emotional or behavioural support.
- A strong understanding of emotional literacy, mental health, and social development in children.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to listen and support students through challenges.
- Experience or training in ELSA or similar emotional support programs is highly desirable but not essential.
- A proactive and positive approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to promoting the emotional wellbeing of all students in the school.
