This school is a thriving and inclusive school dedicated to delivering high-quality education and fostering a supportive learning environment. We are seeking a proactive and experienced School Business Manager to join our leadership team and help drive operational excellence across the school.

The Role

As School Business Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of the school’s financial, administrative, HR, and premises operations. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors to ensure the school runs smoothly and efficiently, enabling staff to focus on teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead financial planning, budget management, and reporting.
  • Oversee procurement, contracts, and value-for-money initiatives.
  • Manage HR processes including recruitment, payroll, and staff development.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Supervise site management and ensure the premises are safe and well-maintained.
  • Line manage administrative and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism and collaboration.
  • Support strategic planning and contribute to school improvement initiatives.
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience in a similar role within a school or educational setting.
  • Strong financial management skills and budgetary experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational abilities.
  • Knowledge of HR, health and safety, and premises management.
  • Proficiency in school systems such as SIMS, FMS, or equivalent.
  • Relevant qualifications in business, finance, or school leadership.

Desirable:

  • CSBM/DSBM or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in a multi-academy trust or large school environment.
  • Understanding of school funding and compliance requirements.
