Randstad are looking for experienced Social Workers to join Stockport Council's Locality Team on a permanent basis.

Stockport Council are doing a permanent recruitment drive within their Locality teams. They are looking for committed social workers who want to be the consistent presence in a child's journey from the initial referral through to permanence or case closure.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with children and families from the point of referral (front door/Multi-Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub - MASSH) through assessment, Child in Need (CIN)/Team Around the Child (TAC) support, child protection, pre-court and court proceedings, and children in care, up to step down or case closure.
  • Build and maintain long-lasting, stable relationships with children, young people, and their families, often being the consistent social worker throughout their journey with statutory services.
  • Conduct thorough assessments (e.g., Section 17, Section 47, Child and Family Assessments) to identify needs, risks, and strengths.
  • Develop and implement child-centred plans (CIN Plans, Child Protection Plans, Care Plans) that are measurable and outcome-focused.
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, undertake Child Protection Enquiries (Section 47), and ensure immediate decision-making reflects a robust analysis of risk and protective factors.
  • Engage in direct work with children and families to understand their lived experiences, obtain their wishes and views, and implement interventions to improve their circumstances.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with a wide range of multi-agency partners, including health visitors, school nurses, midwives, early years workers, teachers, education workers, police, and other agencies.
  • Act as the link social worker for specific schools within the assigned locality, providing advice and support to professional colleagues to enable early help and prevent escalation to statutory services.
  • Prepare statutory reports for court proceedings (e.g., pre-proceedings, care proceedings) and participate in legal processes as required.
  • Identify and secure appropriate services and resources to support and safeguard children and families within the locality.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive case records on relevant IT systems, adhering to council policies and statutory requirements.
  • Participate in duty rotas, responding to urgent referrals and crisis situations.
  • Engage in regular, high-quality reflective and systemic supervision, participate in continuous professional development, and contribute to team learning spaces.

Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification or equivalent
  • Social Work England registered
  • Enhanced DBS
