Gelson's Markets is well known for our enticing array of freshly prepared hot foods, gourmet salads and salad bar. The Wolfgang Puck Chef plays an important role in promoting a quality image of the company through the department presentation and delivery of excellent products. The Wolfgang Puck Chef prepares food products according to Gelson's and Wolfgang Puck recipes and standards. Following all HAACP program standards is essential in the production of all prepared foods.
A Wolfgang Puck Chef is responsible for the safe and timely preparation and presentation of various finished items to order including pizzas, sandwiches, salads, pastas and tapas items. Preparation may include baking, frying or grilling.
The Wolfgang Puck Chef must possess a good foundation of culinary technique. The ability to use knives with fine manipulation is mandatory. The Wolfgang Chef must also display a clear understanding of all cooking techniques and terminologies and monitor food quality to assure the recipe meets Gelson's standards. When directed, the Wolfgang Puck Chef will also be responsible for ordering goods and products following all department guidelines.
The ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of staff within Gelson's Markets is mandatory. The Wolfgang Puck Chef must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills as the Chef may provide minimal direction to staff helping in food preparation. Strong working knowledge of food service operations is required.
All service deli positions start at part time. Pay rate will be dependent on experience.
Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
Reaching above and at shoulder level frequently
Walking and standing up to 8 hours per day
Bending and twisting up to 3 hours per day
Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. frequently
Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. occasionally
Working near hazardous machinery (Meat slicer, mixer, knives, fryer, stove)
Exposure to dust, gas, fumes (Stove)
Exposure to noise (Mixer, ovens)
Exposure to extremes in temperature (Deli coolers, freezer, ovens, pizza oven)
