Job Title: Spring Dairy Farm Assistant (Seasonal, Full-Time)
Location: Mountmellick, Co. Laois

We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Spring Dairy Farm Assistant for the busy calving season and spring workload. This role is ideal for someone with practical farming experience who is confident working with livestock and machinery.

About the Role

• Herd Size: 120 cows
• Start Date: Part-time from mid-January
• Full-Time Period: February 1st - April
• Schedule: Ideally full days Monday-Friday, with flexibility for the right candidate.

Spring Work Responsibilities

• Calf rearing: Feeding, monitoring health, and maintaining clean housing
• Bedding cows and young stock to ensure comfort and hygiene
• Tractor work: Including feeding out, scraping, spreading bedding, and other spring tasks
• Assisting with calving season duties where required
• Milking is not essential, but experience is preferred
• General spring farm work such as fencing repairs, yard work, and pasture maintenance

Requirements

• Previous experience in dairy or livestock farming
• Confident operating tractors and farm equipment
• Strong attention to animal welfare
• Reliable, motivated, and able to work independently
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
