Location: Home-based with frequent travel across the UK and Ireland

 

Established for over 25 years, this company is recognised as a market leader within the supply of surface material products by providing an exclusive range of materials to the UK specification market.

 

Over the past five years, this organisation has experienced phenomenal growth largely down to the outstanding products and services and by evolving with their clients. Aside from providing high-quality surface materials, they also offer value-added services to support their network of customers such as specialist surface materials training for materials fabricators.

 

As a result of a strategic growth plan, this company is looking to recruit a Head of Technical or Technical Director to spearhead and deploy the technical vision and the technical direction of the business in line with the overall company strategy.

Head of Technical Accountabilities:

 

  • The Head of Technical will set, implement and execute the technical vision and plan as well as the direction of the business whilst being accountable for all technical measures
  • Management of all technical activities including technical personnel, product portfolio, H&S and technical training centres
  • Responsible for the management and wellbeing of your team - 1-2-1's, appraisals, performance reviews, annual objectives and training
  • Responsible for complaints and warranty processes with the fabricator, end-user and supplier to find a resolution and to minimise the impact on the customer
  • Technical specification support for all products and to provide technical assistance to the commercial sales team
  • Product development - Proactively and reactively assessing how the business finds new markets for existing products and new products for existing markets
  • Accountable for all testing practices, specifications and to work with the senior leadership team for new product development and product demand
  • Work closely with the marketing team on specific projects, campaigns, and installations to promote and drive sales of surface material products
  • Support the development of bringing new products, development of existing products and training courses to market
  • Create prototypes for new products to drive to final design solutions

 

The ideal Head of Technical will have a combination of the following:

 

  • An experienced Head of Technical, Technical Manager, Technical Director or a related background within surface materials
  • Knowledge of the surface materials specification market with the ability to communicate complex technical information
  • A proven leader of technical personnel, technical functions and technical training
  • A suitable engineering qualification, degree preferred
  • Flexibility to travel both in the UK and Ireland
