A large public-service broadcaster are seeking a qualified and experienced Financial Accountant to join our team and provide professional financial support across a range of stakeholders. This role plays a key part in ensuring effective financial control, delivering operational excellence, and driving continuous improvement across finance and core processes.

This is an initial 2-month contract role based in Cardiff which offers hybrid working (2 days per week in the office), the day rate for the role is up to £300 per day via an Umbrella company (inside IR35).

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Deliver insightful financial analysis and commentary to support decision-making.
• Assist in budget preparation, trend extrapolation, and financial data input.

Accounting & Reporting

• Monitor and update financial forecasts.
• Maintain short-term financial plans and report actuals against budgets.
• Support year-end account closure and statutory reporting.

Controls & Compliance

• Enhance efficiency and control of financial processes and methodologies.
• Develop, test, and implement new practices.
• Promote and reinforce finance policies and guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in high-quality accounting and reporting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence.
• Ability to simplify complex financial data for non-finance stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
