Experienced Animal Technician - Preclinical Research

This opportunity offers the chance to contribute directly to impactful preclinical studies in a leading R&D setting. You'll be a key part of a collaborative team focused on ophthalmic and molecular research, working on in vivo experiments and wet-lab support activities.

What You'll Do:

* Conduct in vivo mouse procedures to assess vision in disease models, including electroretinography (ERG), ocular imaging (SLO, OCT), and behavioural tests

* Perform drug administration via various routes (IP, IV, gavage, intraocular)

* Handle tissue collection and processing for histology and molecular analysis

* Manage mouse colonies: breeding, ear clipping, and genotyping

* Support wet lab operations including consumables management and shipping logistics

* Draft and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

* Maintain clear, accurate records (digital and written) of experimental procedures and outcomes

* Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient lab operations across two Central London sites

What You'll Bring:

* 2-3 years' experience working with laboratory animals, ideally mice, within research or CRO environments

* A current UK Home Office Personal Licence PIL A B C

* Qualifications such as A-levels or BTEC in a scientific or biological field

* Excellent planning, communication, and teamwork skills.

* Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and travel between lab sites.

* Commitment to the 3Rs and high standards of animal welfare.

Bonus skills (not required but advantageous):
Experience with ophthalmic techniques or wet-lab tasks like PCR, tissue culture, or molecular biology.
