Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Main aim of job

- Guaranteeing high technical availability of multiple production equipment, including assembly, preassembly, laser welding and paint lines

- Use of troubleshooting, problem solving methods and root cause analysis by using different tools in a safe manner

- Carrying out overhauls, rebuilds, service and repair tasks including the reduction of the maintenance costs


Specific duties and responsibilities


1. Carry out work orders and project work in a timely fashion and of high quality

2. Daily servicing and maintenance of production equipment

3. Solving breakdown solutions and implementing corrective actions

4. Detailed recording of the fulfilled tasks on a daily basis

5. Support of external equipment and service suppliers

6. Realization of improvement ideas and supporting the company suggestion system

7. Troubleshooting Cognex and Keyence vision systems and making minor adjustments in the software

8. Troubleshooting Siemens PLCs and HMIs using programming software

9. Ensure equipment functions as designed and complies with quality systems to all required standards including customer specific requirements

10. Additional tasks as required

- Workorders performed on time in %

- Realized continuous improvement proposals

- Rate of hours logged / booked in SAP vs hours paid [%]

- Evaluation of order and cleanliness (5S)



Scope of authority/ key figures which characterize the job

- Maintenance tasks

- Prioritization of break downs


Organizational interfaces

- Active participation in shift handovers and team meetings

- Production Teams; daily review of technical downtime, exchange of information and following daily priorities

- Industrial Engineering: Continuous Improvement of assembly lines


Formal education / course of study

Apprenticeship in Mechatronics (MAT2) or similar, experience in a related field (3+ years), formal technical training


Professional experience

3+ years experience as a Mechatronics technician in an automated production company, preferably in the automotive industry


Specialized knowledge and skills

- Good troubleshooting skills

- Knowledge of problem solving methods and root cause analysis

- Good technical knowledge including industrial controls, Siemens PLCs, CNC, ABB robotics, pneumatics and hydraulics, measuring devices, servo drives, conveyor systems, BUS systems (Profibus, Profinet), laser welding systems and paint lines

- Experience in TPM and continuous improvement

- Independent decision making and setting priorities

- Service oriented thinking

- Assertiveness, creativity, team work mentality

- Ability to communicate effectively

- Able to read blueprints, drawings and electrical schematics

- Knowledge and adherence of lock out and tag out processes
