VisionFR is working with a design consultancy to find their ‘go-to’ Head of Finance (HOF) for all financial and management accounting information. This role will oversee and deliver processes, including payroll, purchase and sales, credit control, budgeting and management accounts.

Main Responsibilities of the Head of Finance

Reporting

• Responsible for a range of reports which will include the preparation of monthly and year-end financial accounts for the UK business.
• Report to the Board on a monthly basis.
• Responsibility for budgeting, forecasting, accruals and cashflow.
• Prepare and liaise with the auditors in the preparation of the audit.
• Other reporting requirements will include preparing company information for pitches and proposals and any ad hoc management information required.
• Lead on financial planning for the agency.

Compliance

• Responsible for dealing with matters relating to HMRC, ensuring the agency are compliant with any Government requirements.
• Preparing information for any monthly/quarterly/annual VAT returns, PAYE or corporation tax reports.
• Ensure that the agency meets external financial deadlines for the submission and payment of any amounts due.
• Main point of contact for any VAT or PAYE inspections.
• Implement, maintain and where possible, improve financial recording, procedures and control systems.

Relationships

• Main contact for the relationship with the bank, HMRC, auditors, debtors and creditors.
• Have a good working relationship with a variety of individuals and companies.
• Responsibility for being the point of contact for the accountants of the other subsidiary, and foreign payroll contractors.

Payroll/Expenses

• The HOF will be accountable for the administration of payroll (which is prepared and submitted by a third party).
• Manage any salary sacrifice schemes
• Maintain employee annual leave and sickness records.
• Liaise with third parties to manage pension administration.
• Ensure that individual expense claim forms are checked, processed and paid, and that company charge cards are properly administered by the finance team.

Management

• Manage a small finance team and be responsible for its operations and timely delivery of data.
• Ensure the team is focused on the right priorities and is working to a high standard.

Systems

• Manage the finance software
• Ensuring that records are accurate and that there are regular reconciliations of all control accounts.
• Utilise the system to manage debtors, ensuring that invoicing is up to date, receivables are collected, bank reconciliations are completed, and suppliers are paid regularly.

Qualifications and Experience of the Head of Finance

• Strong Excel
• Thorough knowledge of UK tax and accounting laws
• ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified
• Experience preparing Management Accounts
• Knowledge of R&D claims
• Experience of working in a service
• Experience of International Withholding Tax
• Experience of working in a service sector consultancy
