We're now seeking a Head of PMO to lead our Portfolio, Programme and Project Management function and drive the successful delivery of transformational change across the Trust. If you're a strategic leader who brings clarity, structure and inspiration to complex portfolios, and you're motivated by meaningful work that improves lives, this is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant, lasting impact.

The Role

As Head of PMO, you'll provide strategic leadership and governance across the Trust's full change and capital investment portfolio, from major digital initiatives to multi‑million‑pound development projects. You'll be responsible for ensuring the integrity, transparency and performance of the Trust's portfolio, enabling colleagues at all levels to deliver high‑quality, well‑governed and value‑adding change.

You will:

Portfolio & Strategy

  • Provide high‑level insight, reporting and assurance on portfolio performance, benefits, risks and ROI

  • Maintain a Trust‑wide pipeline of change, supporting prioritisation and strategic resource planning

Governance & Assurance

  • Embed consistent, high‑quality delivery and reporting standards across all programmes and projects

  • Provide independent oversight to ensure initiatives maintain strategic alignment and deliver expected value

  • Strengthen assurance frameworks, risk management practices and decision‑making processes

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the PMO team, building capability, confidence and a culture of continuous improvement

  • Champion shared accountability and collaborative working across directorates and change teams

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships with executive leaders, trustees, operational services and external partners

  • Act as senior advisor on change readiness, prioritisation and delivery

  • Influence strategic conversations, offering clear insight and constructive challenge

Business Support & Local Project Enablement

  • Support directorates with locally led initiatives through coaching, guidance, tools and frameworks

  • Act as the senior escalation point for project‑related risks or issues

  • Enable colleagues to deliver high‑quality outcomes beyond the central PMO

About You

You'll bring a blend of strategic insight, strong delivery discipline and a collaborative, people‑centred leadership style. You understand how to drive effective change in a complex organisation while keeping teams motivated, informed and aligned.

Skills and experience:

  • Significant experience leading a PMO, portfolio office, programme office or similar strategic change function

  • Proven success delivering and assuring complex, cross‑functional change in a large or multifaceted organisation

  • Experience leading or overseeing large‑scale digital transformation

  • Strong expertise in portfolio management, governance, risk management, benefits realisation and delivery frameworks

  • Demonstrated experience inspiring, leading and developing multidisciplinary teams

  • Experience in charity, health, social care, housing or public sector settings desirable

  • Knowledge of recognised delivery frameworks such as PRINCE2, MSP, Agile or equivalent beneficial

What We're Looking For

We value warmth, integrity and collaboration. You'll be someone who:

  • Communicates with clarity, openness and empathy

  • Brings structure, insight and calm to complex portfolios

  • Builds trust and influence across diverse stakeholders

  • Makes sound, evidence‑based decisions

  • Coaches others to grow their skills and confidence

  • Embeds our values of inclusion, respect and wellbeing in every aspect of your work

Why St Monica Trust?
