Job Duties / Responsibilities:

1. Perform a detailed review of customer drawings and specifications to ensure tooling feasibility, manufacturability, part performance and cost.

2. Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.

3. Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.

4. Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.

5. Position instructions and comments onto drawings.

6. Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.

7. Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.

8. Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items.

9. Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials.

10. Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines.

11. Develop tool set up sheets, stamping process instructions and part inspection criteria for each new tool build.

12. Provide technical support & guidance to the manufacturing team.

13. Assist with new tool build and debug.

14. Develop an outside vendor list that can be used to support new tool build activity. Monitor vendor quality and timely completion of work.

15. Work with QA on Quality Issues, Corrective Actions, Incident Reports and provide responses to data provided by QA.

16. Follow Company policies and procedures as defined in the Interplex Employee Manual.

17. Follow all International Standards that apply to IEP’s certification and QMS.

18. Follow Company Safety rules and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Handle and dispose of all chemicals per the applicable MSDS and IEP procedure.

19. Maintain regular and satisfactory attendance.

20. Perform duties outside of normal work hours as required.

21. Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

2. 5 to 7 years Design Engineering experience

Knowledge:

1. Progressive Tools - Working knowledge of progressive tools.

2. Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

3. Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products.

4. Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involve in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.

5. Engineering and Technology - Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

6. Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

7. English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules or composition, and grammar.

15. Computers - Advanced computer skills to include E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel and CAD.
