Our Client provides services to help people with learning disabilities who may also have additional needs.
They are looking to recruit a number of Support Worker to work at their Solihull site. A variety of shifts are available including waking nights.
•Support in achieving daily living skills
•Identifying and meeting the needs of Individuals
•Developing and maintaining relationships with Service Users, staff and the local community
•Positively encouraging choices in keeping with the rights of people with a Learning Disability.
•Assisting with providing a needs-led service in keeping with the aims and objectives of the service.
•Participating and assisting with defined care plans encouraging individuals to take an active role in all aspects of daily living.
•Attending training on topics which relates to behaviour support and autism spectrum conditions (ASC).
•Provide a customer-oriented service
Key result areas
•Work flexible hours as required by the organisation including weekend, Bank Holidays, sleep-in and night duty as required.
•Cover staffing shortfalls and special events such as holidays.
•Assist in reviewing service users and their behaviours, taking on the role of key worker to either individual or group of Service Users.
•Carry out your duties in the way that you have been trained (including assisting in administering of medication). Work within the parameters of the Support Plan.
•Encouraging and supporting a lifestyle which facilitates spiritual, physical, psychological, cultural and social needs of the individual.
•Being responsible for and assisting service users with all aspects of a household nature as required. (Including cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc.)
•Enabling individuals to develop and maintain relationships within their home and local community
In addition to the above, a Support Worker is expected to:
•Undertake other duties from time to time as required by the Manager of the Service
•Maintain customer confidentiality in accordance with our data protection policy and procedure.
•Maintain an awareness of own developmental needs and undertake training as necessary.
•Carry out duties in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and subsequent Health and Safety legislation.
•Reporting any service needs of whatever nature to the manager.
•Ensuring that all relevant documentation is completed and accurate.
•Ensure all policies and procedures allocated to the home are followed.
Requirements For this post
•Experience working with learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviours would be an advantage, however not essential as full training will be provided.
•Be able to work as part of a team in order to provide personal care and support for individuals.
Provide care and support for people with a learning disability or other specialist needs within local community settings and are committed to the highest standards of service delivery, in a culture where learning and development is normal
Professional training and qualification
Willingness to undertake any training that is identified for the role.
Have NVQ level 3/3 in Care or equivalent
